Yet Again, EchoStar 21 Launch On Hold

The Russian news service TASS is informing readers that the EchoStar 21 communication satellite launch aboard a Proton-M launch vehicle has been delayed until mid-month.

The Khrunichev Center, the manufacturer of the Proton-M rocket, indicated that additional checks of the rocket and the booster unit are required—no new launch date has been specified as of this writing. The original launch date for this satellite was way back during the first quarter of 2016 and the satellite has suffered from repeated postponements.

Manufactured by Space Systems Loral (SSL), this satellite is to provide services to Europe and is to be the sixth satellite for the EchoStar family to be launched by a Proton rocket. The satellite had been previously called EchoStar T2 and TerreStar 2.
