[SatNews] This French Navy patroller will be using the Company's solutions for everything from surveillance to crew welfare...
Vizada is providing the French Navy patroller, Cormoran, with satellite broadband connection and airtime. The vessel will use the connection for various missions such as French coastal approach surveillance, European community fishing controls and notably during their mission as escort boat for the 42nd annual French yacht race, La Solitaire du Figaro. Cormoran accompanied the racers throughout the 4-week journey to provide security and emergency services. Vizada provided broadband connectivity and Vizada solutions for crew and personnel onboard the Cormoran over the course of the race. Crew is able to use phone and Internet connectivity to keep in touch with their onshore base and other vessels. The captain will be able to use the connection to keep abreast of weather patterns, current ranking, emergency calls, etc.
In order to allow for a quick connection for this high data usage, Satlink and Vizada installed an Inmarsat FleetBroadband terminal aboard the patroller. A selection of Vizada Solutions™ helps optimize the connectivity service by allowing for messaging and prepaid services at sea. Crew will benefit from the broadband connection to keep in contact with friends and family via the prepaid phone card, Universal Card™. Vizada's popular online messaging service, SkyFile® Mail will be available for captain and crew use as well.
