On the IBC2017 Show Floor  — Terrasat

Terrasat, a developer of innovative RF solutions for satellite communications systems, has announced that the company will be showcasing three new products at IBC2017 at RAI, Amsterdam.

The models expand Terrasat’s higher power, GaN IBUC G family and include the enhanced 200W+ and the new, “best in class” 300W and 400W Ku-band products. The new IBUCs, developed in line with customer demand, will help to drive cost efficiency yet increase performance, especially in the broadcast and enterprise market, such as oil and gas. The IBUC Gs are also highly suitable for use in hubs and gateways that feature extensively in satellite ground networks.

The broadcast and enterprise networks of today are built upon reliability and performance. Existing and emerging applications demand higher power capabilities and the new products will replace the more expensive, less reliable TWTA systems that are currently in use.

The three breakthrough terminals comprise an impressive set of advanced features. They are low in cost and their simple design means that they are easy to install and configure yet deliver superior RF performance, enabling customers to transform their network cost-effectively and rapidly. The enhanced IBUC G 200W+ features the “best in the industry” linear performance of +52 dBm.  This translates into 160 Watts of Ku Band usable power for the customer.

The new and intuitive interfaces connect to Terrasat’s extensive Monitoring & Control (M&C) capabilities for network management or local access. This facilitates trouble-free commissioning and continuous verification of performance with time-stamped alarm history and simplified monitoring of terminal status.

In addition, the IBUC Gs are fitted with a complete set of diagnostic tools for highly effective troubleshooting, including: 10 MHz input detector; input voltage and current monitoring; transmit L-band input level detector; transmit RF output level detector and user configurable thresholds and alarms. All IBUC G products also feature internal Automatic Gain Control (ALG) and Automatic Level Control (ALC) functions that satisfy demanding applications with stringent specifications.

Bob Hansen, the CP of Global Sales & Marketing, commented that Terrasat developed these products in response to the many existing, satisfied IBUC customers who wanted higher power options that would give them the same best value combination of performance, price, delivery and reliability that they have been receiving with Terrasat’s lower power products.
