The customizable transceiver XLink plays a central role in two groundbreaking bundle solutions that impress in terms of reliability, flexibility, and affordability.
Global data relay solution using Inmarsat’s ELERA network. The newly launched InCommand solution by IQ spacecom and Inmarsat will be introduced into the US for the first time. InCommand provides dynamic, affordable, and real-time L-band capacity anywhere in the world for instant commanding and telemetry of LEO satellites.
This full orbit access is enabled via Inmarsat’s exceptionally reliable ELERA, L-band, GEO satellites, using IQ spacecom’s fully featured and transparent bidirectional XLink-L transceiver (SDR) on board a LEO satellite. The SDR platform with high receiver sensitivity is characterized by flexible data links and configurable data rates, starting at just a few kbps.
The highly efficient, responsive, InCommand solution was successfully tested in May of 2022 and will be followed by an on-orbit demo. The ability to task satellites immediately will be a game changer for time-sensitive space applications, such as Earth Observations (EO).
A solution that is already well established on the market is IQ spacecom‘s end-to-end solution, in cooperation with WORK Microwave GmbH. The compact 0.2 U sized XLink transceiver, fitting perfectly into a 1U cubesat as well as larger satellites, plays a central role. The flight grade tested transceiver with cost-effective COTS design features robust, high-rate, signal modulation techniques that provide best bandwidth efficiency: Downlink/telemetry and payload of up to 200 Mbps and an uplink/telecommand of up to 1024 kbps.
In combination with WORK Microwave’s 19-inch rack-mount AX-60-S02190 CCSDS TM/TC Modem, the result is a fully featured, bidirectional, communication system. The solution seamlessly connects ground and space segments to reliably perform transmission tasks to and from satellites.
The XLink advanced transceiver system also supports DVB-S2 in addition to CCSDS (Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems) protocols, which enables the transmission of higher data rates at very low bandwidth, especially in S-band. Both protocols are fully compatible with WORK Microwave’s ground modem, which makes the bundle even more flexible.
