GlobeCast ‘s GlobeCam will transmit pictures from new heights in the the Air Sports competition with the best parachutists from around the world competing. Miniature cameras will be on skydivers’ helmets and on helicopters, to capture breath-taking action as it occurs. The GlobeCam team will remotely switch the cameras from the ground.
Australia’s live, miniature camera unit, GlobeCam, will transmit pictures from the Air Sports competition, with the best parachutists from around the world competing. Qualified Air Sports competitors are from Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, the Czech Republic, Germany, Great Britain, France, Italy, Norway, South Africa, Russia, Slovenia, Switzerland, Sweden, Chinese Taipei, the United States and Venezula.
“In all, 12 skydiving camera operators will have cameras and live links fitted to their gear, to shadow parachutists in competition, while 2 Kawasaki BK117 helicopters will be rigged with multiple cameras and live links,” according to GlobeCam Manager Gerry Justus.
GlobeCam, launched in December 2008 as part of GlobeCast Australia’s global distribution activities, also has a four year contract to deliver live, onboard car coverage during the V8 Supercars Rounds in Australia, New Zealand and Bahrain.
“From motor racing to air sports, it just shows the versatility of the GlobeCam application. Ask us, we’ll deliver,” according to GlobeCast Australia’s Commercial Manager John Graham.
GlobeCam contracted with the World Games after liaison with the President of IPC (International Parachuting Commission) Mr. Graeme Windsor. Coverage will be to big screens during initial stages, with national television coverage for the finals.
The city of Kaohsiung in Taiwan is the Host City. Competitions at the highest level in a multitude of diverse, popular and spectacular sports make up the mainstay of The World Games. Sports are practiced on land, in the air, in and on the water, in the pursuit of ‘Faster, Higher, Stronger’, according to an official World Games statement.
Taiwan’s Public Television Service (PTS) will carry more than 120 hours of coverage. And, GlobeCast will distribute daily highlights of various Games sports worldwide. The Kaohsiung Organizing Committee (KOC) has previously announced it is in partnership with GlobeCast for satellite transmission, the exact details of which are to be announced, although distribution will occur on AS2, EutelSat, IS904 and IS9. GlobeCast will assist KOC to promote the daily highlights and news cuts to broadcasters worldwide.
Held every four years, the year after an Olympic year, The World Games include more than 30 sports, ranging from roller skating to water skiing, and martial arts, rugby, gymnastics and billiards. The Opening Ceremony is July 16 and the Air Sports component will occur from July 17, 2009 for several days.
