[SatNews] The demand for high speed, cost effective and robust satellite communications links is ever increasing...

So, too, is the need for maritime customers to use those links to cater for both Operational and Crew requirements onboard, wherever a vessel sails. As a result, the focus of the industry is shifting. Today, satellite communication providers must strive to provide solutions that are no longer based on single products or services, but rather on fully integrated solutions, using multiple technologies to provide seamless, high speed communications while at the same time ensuring that customers manage their costs effectively.

Network Operator and Inmarsat Distribution Partner, NSSLGlobal provides solutions that combine cutting edge technology with a thorough understanding of the customer’s needs. Since 2009, NSSLGlobal’s Service Assurance package has provided customers with a solution that offers an ‘always on’ connection of up to 4MB via NSSLGlobal’s Cruise-IP service, paired with Inmarsat’s FleetBroadband, providing a fully redundant communication solution anywhere in the world.

Cruise-IP is a Ku-band service, which runs on NSSLGlobal’s own DVBS2-RCS network. DVB2S-RCS allows NSSLGlobal to offer customers flexible data packages at high speeds for a fixed monthly fee; not only providing the kind of speeds that allow for the use of high functioning applications on the Bridge, but also giving Crew access to connections for personal use. In addition to high data rates, the Cruise-IP service also provides a multi-line, premium voice solution to address the calling needs of the Bridge and Crew (with calling cards).
