Broadcast Partners Chooses 2wcom’s MM01 From Studio To Maximum 250 Transmitters In Netherlands + Belgium

[Satnews] Dutch radio service provider Broadcast Partners has implemented audio-over-IP distribution from the studio to up to 250 transmitters in Netherlands and Belgium, using 2wcom’s MM01 AoIP Codec.

Broadcast Partners uses the MM01 to provide AoIP (audio-over-IP) for six networks, either as a main feed, or as a backup when the main feed is provided over satellite and via 2wcom’s FlexDSR02+ or DSR01 satellite receivers/IRDs. The combination allows the networks to operate securely and in a very efficient configuration with the potential to switch easily between economical DSL lines and satellite.

“The addition of MM01 units to our infrastructure gives us robust audio-over-IP distribution with FEC and dual streaming,” said Jeroen Millenaar, Broadcast Partners’ network engineer. “It was also important that the MM01 could allow us to operate single frequency networks where they were required. These versatile capabilities are essential if you want to implement new networks that are easily adaptable for the future.”

Combining both encoder and decoder roles within the same device, and with its redundancy capability and monitoring functions, the MM01 can replace multiple equipment components to simplify infrastructure and reduce both CAPEX and OPEX.

Targeted primarily at studio-transmitter link applications, MM01 provides advanced redundancy capability and monitoring functions, with the ability to integrate into diverse infrastructures. The MM01’s audio synchronization, delivered to microsecond accuracy, also makes it suitable for applications where precise timing is essential, such as SFN FM networks.

Offering comprehensive support for today’s most popular audio codecs including AAC and eAPTX, the MM01 also supports dual streaming and Pro MPEG FEC—standardized mechanisms for overcoming IP limitations when they occur.

Helping to further reduce a network’s operational costs, the MM01 includes remote monitoring capabilities through its audio return channel and system audio data log functionality. The MM01’s hardware and software concept offers the versatility to adapt to any future requirement through its built-in support for features like https, SNMPv3, detailed syslog capabilities, SNMP, and web GUI.
