Telecommunications par Satellites Mobiles (TE.SA.M.) launched satellite voice and data services provider Globalstar’s satellite telephone service in Belgium, France, Portugal and Spain this week. The new launch brings the total number of locations where Globalstar service is available to 15 countries across Europe, Asia, North America and South America. TE.SA.M. said in a press release that it plans to launch service in nine countries covered by its European gateway. “TE.SA.M. is introducing two types of Globalstar service dual-mode Service allowing customers to use normal mobile service from an approved GSM operator and Globalstar satellite service whenever the user travels outside of mobile range,” it said in a press release on Wednesday. Both services are accessible from a single phone, with a single number and a single monthly invoice. “The second type includes single-mode Service, providing Globalstar only service for customers who do not require mobile service or who prefer using mobile from a separate phone. Single-mode service will be available through distributors specialising in satellite services. TE.SA.M. is making Globalstar service available through a network of established local GSM service providers and dealers,” the company said.
