WTA reveals the 2025 Independent + Hybrid Teleport Operators + Teleport Technology of the Year

March 12, 2025

The World Teleport Association (WTA) has announced the winners of the 30th annual Teleport Awards for Excellence during an exclusive awards ceremony at the SATELLITE 2025 event. The awards are presented each year to organizations and individuals in the teleport industry whose achievements have been deemed exceptional by the international trade association and its awards committees, made up of industry members from across the globe.

The 2025 recipients are:

Independent Teleport Operator of the Year: Calian Pacific Teleports
Calian Pacific Teleports provides critical satellite communication services to clients in more than a dozen countries and territories. Their customers range from supporting critical life-saving communication efforts to high-speed broadband internet reaching the world, connecting the U.S. and Asia-Pacific regions with the rest of the world on high bandwidth optical networks. Customers rely on Calian Pacific Teleports when they can’t afford to fail. Calian Pacific Teleports has five active teleports, three teleports in Hawaii, one in Guam and one in Saskatchewan, and has just broken ground on a fourth teleport in Hawaii.

Every minute of every day, Calian provides critical communication services to clients that support customers in over a dozen countries and territories all over the world. Whether providing connectivity to a remote hospital, critical network communications to military personnel, network access to ships and planes traversing the Pacific, or on-air television and media services across Asia and the Americas, Calian’s team of professionals constantly ensures their client’s networks are online. Their experienced and expert staff is on duty 24×7 to ensure critical communication paths are always available. Customer service is Calian’s top priority, and that’s reflected in their volume of repeat customers, the new customers they’re adding rapidly, and their year-over-year revenue growth.

The former (Hawaii Pacific Teleports) HPT has many achievements in 2024, including the long-awaited name change to Calian Pacific Teleports (CPT). In 2024 CPT signed a deal to expand their Hawaii offering, adding a fourth teleport location in Hawaii. Construction started at the end of 2024 and will go live with traffic in 2025. In addition, in early 2024, the One Web gateway in Guam went live and was there to support a disaster affecting that region of the world.

In April of 2024, Taiwan was shaken by its most powerful earthquake in nearly three decades. This disaster led to the collapse of phone lines, cell towers and internet service, leaving residents isolated and anxious for communication. At the time of the Taiwan earthquake, Calian’s Teleport Services team was midway through building a teleport gateway in Guam for satellite owner Eutelsat One Web. This gateway, once finished, would eventually bridge the U.S. and Asia Pacific regions – including Taiwan – with the rest of the world. However, the project was still weeks away from completion when the quake occurred. Calian quickly pivoted upon hearing the news, devising a short-term emergency solution using active antennas to get the teleport operational. Select this direct link to learn more about Calian Pacific Teleports.

Hybrid Teleport Operator of the Year: MEASAT
MEASAT is a premium satellite communications services provider in the Asia-Pacific region. Their MEASAT-3b and MEASAT-3d satellites at the prime 91.5°E hotslot facilitate the distribution of Direct-To-Home TV channels to over 20 million viewers across the region. As Malaysia’s leading satellite solutions provider, MEASAT offers a wide range of customized services. From cellular backhaul and corporate networks to high-speed broadband internet, MEASAT caters to the needs of diverse clients, including government, telecommunications companies, maritime and oil & gas industries, enterprises and small and medium-sized businesses.

MEASAT takes pride in being Malaysia’s primary Rural Broadband Service Provider. Through their CONNECTme service, MEASAT delivers high-speed broadband to over 500,000 Malaysians in remote areas, bridging the digital divide and opening up a world of opportunities for education, healthcare and economic development. MEASAT is significantly enhancing healthcare access in remote areas as well. The project includes digitalizing clinics and deploying 2,000 telehealth kiosks over two years, supported by 1,000 doctors. These kiosks offer self-checks for oxygen levels, blood pressure and body temperature, as well as online consultations for minor issues.

MEASAT provides 100% sovereign broadband coverage exclusively for Malaysia, reinforcing the nation’s goal of maintaining sovereign satellite communications. Over the past 12 months, MEASAT has expanded their support to over 20 remote border posts, enabling secure and reliable communications for the Malaysian Armed Forces in diverse defense missions. MEASAT’s satellite solutions ensure secure connectivity for Malaysia’s security forces in challenging terrain and at sea, powered by advanced mobility solutions technology. Their CONNECTme NOW service supports frontline personnel at remote checkpoints and rapid disaster response efforts for institutions such as the Fire and Rescue services, police and military, highlighting MEASAT’s integral role in Malaysia’s national security infrastructure. Select this direct link to learn more about MEASAT.

Teleport Technology of the Year: neXat Platform by neXat
Trusted by operators and intergovernmental organizations worldwide, neXat is the first satellite-specific OSS/BSS to successfully unite the management of satcom services, customers and networks on one virtual platform. It seamlessly integrates operators’ different hubs, simplifying operations, and brings multiple operational and business support systems together in one place to save operators time and money. neXat can also be used to offer customers new and better services, including improved traffic shaping, bandwidth optimization, VNO services and more.

neXat addresses challenges facing teleport operators and the satellite ground segment, while offering opportunities to scale and increase revenue. Operational complexity – and cost – has increased with the advent of LEO constellations and multi-orbit architectures. Managing diverse hubs, satellite bands and services with legacy systems is inefficient and limits scalability. neXat integrates multiple hubs, regardless of location or manufacturer, into a unified virtualized platform. It eliminates the need for separate infrastructure, simplifies operations and enables centralized control and management as well as billing for operators and their customers.

Operators using neXat report an average reduction in CAPEX by eliminating the need for physical infrastructure investments. Drastic OPEX reductions have been observed through automation and centralized management. Select this direct infolink to learn more about neXat.

In addition to honoring the winner from these three awards categories, WTA honored Adam Godwin, Head of Satellite at Telstra International, as the 2025 Teleport Executive of the Year at the Teleport Awards Luncheon. The reception attendees included teleport, satellite and content distribution technology industry executives, as well as previous awards recipients from around the world. WTA’s Executive Director Randall Barney emceed the event.

“All of this year’s Teleport Awards nominees showcase organizations that are committed to collaboration and innovation as the satellite communications ground segment continues to evolve,” said Randall Barney, WTA’s Executive Director. “Our 30th annual Teleport Award winners embody the operational and technical excellence needed to succeed in this dynamic industry.”
