Bridge Technologies will display the world’s first complete monitoring solution for DVB-T2-MI at the OTTtv World Summit. DVB-T2 is the system used in 70 percent of the contribution infrastructure currently under construction, and in many recent deployments in the EMEA region. DVB-T2 is already in use by operators in Europe, chosen for its outstanding characteristics in single frequency networks, and for the 30 percent bandwidth efficiency gain of DVB-T2 over DVB-T. Bridge Technologies has solved the complex monitoring challenge posed by the DVB-T2-MI format, and T2-MI monitoring is now available as an option across the range of VideoBRIDGE probes. To be shown will be the new VB252 monitoring probe interface for DVB-T2 networks, and part of the industry’s first complete monitoring solution for DVB-T2, including the T2-MI protocol. The dual-input VB252 provides external GPS lock for accurate drift monitoring for SFN networks, high-quality MER measurement, and level readings. For monitoring at transmitter sites and field locations for quality validation, the VB252 is available from Q4 2011. Also debuting is the Company’s new Protocol Traffic Analysis option, which provides in-depth and advanced monitoring and analysis of IP protocols and services across the complete range of VideoBRIDGE probes. With the Traffic Analysis option, operators can perform detailed monitoring and analytics of broadcast/IP streams and all OTT services under a single unified VideoBRIDGE environment with consistent display and reporting features. The Traffic Analysis option provides even more comprehensive capabilities to the end-to-end VideoBRIDGE digital media monitoring ecosystem. Two additional new products will be on display — Advanced Graphics for VBC
Bridge Technologies’ new graphics option for the VBC which extends the VideoBRIDGE system’s outstanding clarity of data presentation with a comprehensive new display engine for completely diagrammatic status displays using any design the user creates and the new VideoBRIDGE microVB™ Advanced Data Gathering, the first viable solution for advanced deep-digging remote analysis at the STB .

  • Cisco has launched the industry’s first wireless IPTV service with AT&T. Cisco is the sole provider of this advanced wireless IPTV solution featuring new wireless receivers and wireless access points (WAPs), available across the entire AT&T U-verse TV footprint starting on Monday, October 31. Consumers can now rely on wireless technology to deliver high-quality video services throughout the home without the need for cables or wires. With this new technology, you can watch TV in virtually any room in the home, even rooms not wired for TV — such as the kitchen, basement or indoor garage. TV content is sent from the Cisco wireless access point via in-home Wi-Fi to the Cisco® wireless receiver next to the TV. It’s as easy as plugging the TV into a power source, attaching high-definition multimedia interface (HDMI) cables or other audiovisual connection to the TV and pressing two buttons to establish the wireless connection. The Wireless TV Solution…
    • Cisco’s wireless TV solution is the first of its kind to deliver both standard definition (SD) and high definition (HD) programming to multiple receivers with “built-in” or integrated Wi-Fi. Just one wireless access point per home can support two wireless receivers connected to TVs
    • Cisco’s wireless TV solution features the ISB7005 wireless receiver and the VEN401 Wireless Access Point, now part of the Cisco Videoscape™ portfolio
    • Cisco’s wireless receiver delivers live TV channels and interactive services and functions as a Total Home HD DVR, allowing consumers to view and manage DVR recordings wirelessly from a wired DVR in the home
As far as Video Operator Benefits are concerned…
    • Wi-Fi-delivered video gives service providers the unique advantage of offering consumers new freedom to watch TV wherever they want in the home
    • With no added wiring required, Cisco’s wireless TV solution offers service providers the means for faster service activations and consumer self-installation with easy-to-use WiFi kits
    • Integrating WiFi technology into the receiver is a more cost-effective option for service providers, as it gives technicians the ability to install receivers without running new wires. The integrated WiFi receiver also offers service providers the ability to monitor the device’s performance via the network, as the receiver comes equipped with remote diagnostics
    • Cisco’s solution is based on the 802.11n standard, and includes enhancements to manage the demanding requirements of delivering high-quality, highly secure video over Wi-Fi

  • Intelsat S.A. has partnered with du, a leading integrated telecommunications service provider in the United Arab Emirates, to jointly offer turnkey multichannel per carrier (MCPC) television program distribution solutions on the Intelsat 10 satellite. Located at 68.5 degrees East, the Intelsat 10 satellite offers a premier video neighborhood spanning Africa, the Middle East and Asia-Pacific. The new MCPC platform, part of the IntelsatONE network, will enable programmers in the Middle East to reach viewers in these growing regions. The platform leverages MPEG-4 and DVB-S2 technology to optimize bandwidth and offer cost-effective solutions for customers. du will leverage its international fiber connectivity to bring content to the Middle East, and then uplink it from the Intelsat MCPC platform. du will host the new platform at its state-of-the-art teleport facility, located near Dubai Media City, which currently provides 221 television channels on various platforms. The MCPC services will include encoding, encryption, multiplexing, uplinking and space segment. Customers can backhaul their channels to the teleport via fiber or satellite for insertion into the platform.
