Ascent Media Singapore and OmniBus Systems, the award-winning provider of comprehensive broadcast automation, content management and workflow solutions, has announced that Ascent has selected OmniBus iTX as the playout platform for Li TV, Asia/Pacific’s first HD lifestyle channel. Li TV — short for Life Inspired — broadcasts 24/7 throughout the region, and is headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Ascent Media Group is a provider of fully integrated, end-to-end services for the global digital media supply chain. Ascent Singapore is Asia’s largest broadcast outsource facility and the only one to offer full-function HD playout in the region. In July, the company announced a multimillion dollar, multiyear content and rights management deal with Li TV, providing a complete automated workflow system in a shared network environment. Ascent selected OmniBus’ iTX automation and playout platform for its new HD service because of the advantages offered by its modular and scalable architecture.

Appear TV and DEPS have announced that Volia, the Ukraine’s largest cable MSO, has deployed Appear TV’s SC2000 ‘head-end in a box’ as it creates a new digital head-end in the capital Kyiv. The new head-end station will enable Volia to improve the range of digital TV (DTV) services it is able to provide to its subscriber base of more than 500,000 in Kyiv, and make it easier and faster to respond to consumer demand for nexgen services. The SC2000 is a carrier-grade ‘head-end in a box’ that enables operators to receive, descramble, scramble and stream multiple video feeds over any network in high quality. It comes with 1 Gbit capacity and handles all signal processing, from reception to IP streaming, internally.
