Harris is using IBC to introduce Launchpad, which brings together products from across the company’s portfolio to prepare, manage, and deliver content to multiple distribution platforms, writes Dick Hobbs. On the exhibition floor, it will be concentrating on complete solutions, with advice on how to build cost-effective, revenue-generating media workflows. At the same time as the physical demonstrations in Amsterdam, Harris will be launching a new, three dimensional online experience, Harris Virtual World. More than just a walkthrough of the exhibition stand, it offers a virtual experience of the whole Harris product offering into 2010 and beyond. Like the educational approach of the IBC stand, the virtual world will provide customers, wherever they are, the opportunity to engage with Harris systems experts, receive realtime demonstrations and identify solutions to their business challenges. At IBC itself, Harris will offer demos aimed to help broadcasters work through the issues surrounding the convergence of traditional broadcast and IT systems and technologies. Technical issues to the fore include the challenges of delivering content to consumers wherever they are, and the need to prepare for 3Gbps infrastructures, to support potential future developments in 1080p or 3D HD content. (Harris will be in attendance at IBC2009 at Stand 7.G20)
