SkyTrac Systems has added Bering Pacific Ranches Ltd. to its growing list of customers.
SkyTrac has equipped Bering Pacific’s fleet of Robinson R44 and R22 helicopters with flight following and satellite communication systems. Bering Pacific Ranches operates a certified organic cattle ranch in Fort Glenn, Umnak Island Alaska, in the Aleutian Island chain. This uninhabited area provides Bering Pacific’s cattle a large area to roam; the area is so large that the company uses helicopters to herd cattle rather than less efficient traditional methods. At Bering Pacific Ranches, situations often arise that require ranchers to check on cattle in specific areas with very little notice. With SkyTrac on board, administrators located at the head office in Calgary, Alberta, can log into SkyWeb (SkyTrac’s web based flight following software), view the current position of all aircraft, and notify the closest aircraft (via text messaging or voice call) to change course.
