NDS is working with VBox Communications [Vbox], Cyberlink and ‘yes‘ to deliver on the promise of convergence. During IBC, the companies demonstrated the new, integrated solution, which included a DVB-S tuner from VBox integrated with the NDS VideoGuard PC software and Cyberlink’s PowerCinema. ‘yes‘ is Israel’s premier satellite Pay-TV operator. ‘yes’ will deploy the combined solution across its network, enabling subscribers to receive the full ‘yes’ offering of HD and SD channels, PPV and VOD on the PC platform.
VideoGuard PC enables broadcasters to expand their offerings to the PC, thereby reaching new audiences and extending the value of their content. The solution includes PC-TV software applications, and provides full DVR capabilities. The content can also be securely transferred to other PCs via the NDS VideoGuard Key, part of the VideoGuard PC solution. The VideoGuard Key carries out a full set of security functions on a mobile USB key. The security parameters and viewing software are all embedded in the VideoGuard Key. The result is that customers can easily watch their programming on any PC.
PowerCinema supports full TV services including live broadcast channels, digital video recording (DVR) functions, Electronic Program Guides (EPGs), secure content downloads, on-demand services, and Video-on Demand (VOD). The VBox tuner provides a unique PC receiver that comes in both PCI and USB form factors and is already integrated with VideoGuard® such that the PC receives the requested channel pre-encapsulated in VideoGuard DRM—London, United Kingdom
