Broadcom Corporation [NASDAQ: BRCM] has announced a new and advanced system-on-a-chip (SoC) solution for next generation satellite and IP set-top boxes (STBs). The new BCM7405 digital set-top-box-on-a-chip leverages Broadcom’s track record and market acumen in both IP and set-top box technologies to deliver unprecedented levels of processor performance, memory bandwidth, graphics speed, system security and peripheral integration.
The new SoC uses 65-nanometer process technology to significantly reduce bill of materials (BOM) costs and enable higher levels of integration and system performance than other solutions currently available.
