BRUSSELLS: August 21, 2007—Satnews Daily—The European Union has given their blessing through the European commission for Apax Partners to acquire Telenor Satellite Services from the Norwegian telecommunications group, Telenor. There would be no significant impediment for competition in the European Economic Area, according to the commission, regarding this purchase. They believe there are a variety of alternatives for customers to continue use of satcom products due to the fact that different satellite operators offer plans for airtime through a variety of wholesalers. The expectation is for the companies to blend their operations for two-way satcom services into both wholesale and retail markets.
