KRYTAR's New Directional Coupler Makes Market Entrance

KRYTAR, Inc. has released a new Directional Coupler that operates in the frequency range of 6.0 to 40.0 GHz and offers Nominal Coupling of 20 dB in a compact package.

KRYTAR’s new directional coupler, Model 106040020.

The Model 106040020 is uniquely designed for systems applications where external leveling, precise monitoring, signal mixing or swept transmission and reflection measurements are required. The coupler provides simple solutions for many applications covering microwave frequency bands from -L through K-band, including SATCOM, electronic warfare (EW), commercial wireless, radar, signal monitoring and measurement, antenna beam forming, and EMC testing environments.

For many space-restricted applications, the compact size makes KRYTAR directional couplers ideal. The new directional coupler also lends itself to wireless designs and many test and measurement applications for emerging mmWave and 5G markets.

The Model 106040020 adds to the firm’s growing family of directional couplers by offering superior performance over the ultra-wideband frequency range from 6.0 to 40.0 GHz. KRYTAR’s technological advances provide excellent operating performance of this new stripline design unit. The new coupler delivers Nominal Coupling (with respect to output) of 20 dB, ±1.0 dB, and Frequency Sensitivity of ±0.50 dB. The directional coupler exhibits Insertion Loss (including coupled power) of less than 1.2 dB, Directivity of greater than 12 dB, Maximum VSWR (any port) is 1.6. Input Power Rating is 20 W average and 3 kW peak. Operating Temperature is -54°C to +85°C.

This new directional coupler is in a compact package measuring just 1.40 inches (L) x 0.45 inches (W) x 0.69 inches (H), and weighs only 1.2 ounce. The directional coupler includes 2.4 mm Female connectors.
