GVF-EMP’s London Roundtable Will Assist in Enabling a Brave New World

November 23, 2017

With London’s 2017 iteration of the bi-annual GVF-EMP HTS Roundtable: Enabling a Brave New World of Opportunity, taking place on 5th December 2018 at De Vere, No. 1 Westferry Circus, Canary Wharf, E14 4HD, in London’s Docklands, the organizers have announced details of the latest program panellist/speaker line-up, featuring some 20+ contributing organizations.

Sponsored by Hughes, Inmarsat, SES, Comtech EF Data, Advantech Wireless, Newtec and C-COM Satellite Systems and comprising four interactive panel discussions — dedicated to analyzing the opportunities arising from a host of new applications that are being delivered into various market sectors, enabled through deployment of existing and planned HTS systems in GEO orbits, and future constellations of non-geostationary (NGSO-HTS) satellites — the HTS Roundtable will focus on: The Operators… A New Focus from Orbit; The VARs… New Challenges in a Brave New World; The Ground Segment… Evolving Dynamics; and, Is Mobility Everything? As at the date of this release, the program has attracted registrations from more than 70 companies and other organizations.

Opening with a backdrop opening presentation from John Finney, Founder & President, Isotropic Systems, entitled The Business of New & Expanding Markets, New & Enhanced Services, and New & Evolving Technologies (title to be confirmed), the details of the program’s following interactive panel sessions are as follows:

  • Roundtable Session 1: The Operators… A New Focus from Orbit
Constellations Reimagined – from LargeSats to CubeSats; HTS Supply – the Aeronautical & Maritime Corridors Is the “App” Now Driving Satellite Design? HTS, the Cloud & IoT; Bandwidth – (Price) Wars in Space? Competing Down the Value Chain; How will HTS & the Mega-LEOs Compete?

  • Roundtable Session 2: The VARs… New Challenges in a Brave New World
Transformation in the Satellite Broadband Value Proposition; Today’s Most Dynamic Markets; Dynamism in Throughput/Pricing Packages; The Cloud & the IoT – Bringing New Opportunity to the VAR Proposition? What Does the Mobile Market Need from VARs?

  • Roundtable Session 3: The Ground Segment… Evolving Dynamics
Equipping the ESIM & Next Generation HTS Mobility Solutions; The VSAT Antenna… Getting Smaller, the Changing Form Factor; Phased Array… Markets & Scales Characterized; In the Cyber Zone… Best Practice in Vendor & Customer Collaboration; Does Growth in Terminal Numbers Mean More Interference? Terminal Cost, Design & Function… Does the Customer Get What the Customer Wants?

  • Roundtable Session 4: Is Mobility Everything?
Where Next for ESIM? HTS for IoT on Land, on Sea, in the Air; Mobile Trunking & Backhaul – A Defining Role for Satellite in the Future 5G Mobile World? Mobility – Who Are the End Users? Navigating a Changing Value Chain – Acquisitions & Alliances; But, What About Enterprise VSAT, Consumer Broadband, Video, Government & Military?

The Roundtable program takes place in coordination with the SSPI Better Satellite World Awards dinner taking place at 1 Whitehall Court, London, SW1A 2EL, on the evening of December 4. The dinner will feature the presentation of awards for innovation and global impact in the three categories of Economy, Humanity, and Knowledge. In 2016, GVF was the proud recipient of an SSPI award which recognized GVF’s achievements in training satellite professionals, enabling global disaster preparedness, and coordinating with partners to serve humanitarian solutions around the world.

Additionally, at the close of the Roundtable proceedings on December 5, the 2017 GVF Board of Directors Election will take place, wherein two positions on the current Board of seven Directors are subject to election.

Delegate registration for the conference is still open, but remaining places are limited. For further information on all GVF-EMP programs, please access this direct link…
