Mobile Satellite Ventures (MSV) issued the following statement commending the work of the United States delegation to the recently concluded 2007 World Radiocommunication Conference (WRC) held in Geneva, Switzerland:
“MSV commends United States Ambassador Richard Russell and the U.S. delegation to the 2007 WRC for the successful outcome of the WRC. The WRC resulted in the adoption of a new recommendation that recognizes globally the essential communications role mobile satellite services (MSS) and emerging integrated satellite-terrestrial networks play throughout the world,” said MSV Vice Chairman, Chief Executive Officer and President Alexander H. Good. “Through the diligent efforts of Ambassador Russell and the delegation, the ITU recognizes the critical role that integrated MSS and ancillary terrestrial component services play globally for improving rural connectivity, bridging geographic barriers, and serving public safety needs during times of emergency and disaster relief. “By calling attention to the suitability of key commercial MSS spectrum bands for integrated systems – including the 1.5/1.6 GHz L-Band — the ITU has expanded opportunities for global implementation of this valuable service,” Good said.
MSV is redefining wireless communications™ through its development of a hybrid satellite-terrestrial communications network, based on MSV’s patented ancillary terrestrial component (ATC) technology. The company expects that its next-generation network will provide seamless, transparent and ubiquitous wireless coverage of the United States and Canada to conventional handsets. MSV plans to launch two of the most powerful commercial satellites ever built that will enable this network to support communications in a variety of areas including public safety, homeland security, aviation, transportation and entertainment, by providing a platform for interoperable, user-friendly and feature-rich voice and high-speed data services. MSV is majority owned and controlled by SkyTerra Communications, Inc. [OTCBB: SKYT]—Reston, Virginia
