Due to “conflicts” with the launch of a Soyuz rocket from Baikonur, Russia, the launch of the Galileo navigation satellite set for liftoff later this year has now been delayed. No hint of financial distresss, apparently, as one reason for such a halting decision. The new date for the launch is believed to be March of 2008, according to “pending” information from Arianespace that could appear in the Financial Times Deutschland. Alcatel-Lucent, EADS, Finmeccanica SpA and Thales are the eight contractors involved with the Galileo project.
