digiGO! — The Digital (R)Evolution™

August 23, 2009

  • AVerMedia's AVerTVHD Duet AVerMedia(R) Technologies, Inc. has released their AVerTVHD Duet (Retail) (A188R) in North America. The AVerTVHD Duet is fully compatible with Windows(r) 7 TV tuner and will accelerate existing HTPC (Home Theater PC) to higher levels of HD performance. The unit is designed to receive HD Digital TV Over-the-Air (ATSC) or Unencrypted Digital Cable (ClearQAM) signals directly to your PC! The AVerTVHD Duet has a single input, which adopts the PCI Express interface, which offers a stable and higher bandwidth transmission environment than the traditional PCI bus. Through the AVer MediaCenter application, PIP (Picture-in-Picture) features are supported, which enables users to work on their PC and watch TV at the same time — a Transparent PIP enables the PIP to not cover anything on the desktop that may be needed for additional viewing. PVR (Personal Video Recorder) features such as Pause, Rewinding, and Recording Live TV, as well as Scheduling Recordings and TimeShift, are also part of the AVer MediaCenter application. Digital Sound, Closed Caption, HDTV quality up to 1080i, are just some of the additional features that the AVer MediaCenter application provides.

  • Sony Playstation Europe logo Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) newest addition to the PlayStation® entertainment experience will be their new PlayStation®Network video delivery service for Europe and the PAL territories. Launching this November in France, Germany, Spain, and the U.K., with other markets to follow in 2010, the service will allow movie fans to download the latest releases straight to their PlayStation®3 (PS3™) and PSP™ (PlayStation®Portable) for viewing at home or on the go. The video delivery service will offer high quality entertainment, available to buy or to rent, from major movie studios with hundreds of titles available at launch. They can also access certain games or other content on their PS3 while the download is taking place. Consumers who choose to rent have up to 14 days to watch their movie, and, once playback is started, they have a minimum of 24 hours to watch the content. Further specifics for viewing times will be announced closer to launch of the service. Purchased movies are stored on the PS3 hard disk drive and can be accessed at home via PS3 or transferred to PSP for content on the go.
