iDirect, Inc., a company of VT Systems Inc (VT Systems), has announced that QSAT, a leading satellite service provider based in Qatar, has launched a nexgen iDirect Evolution network covering the Middle East, North Africa, and parts of Europe.
The network enables the company to meet demand for high-speed IP connectivity from financial institutions, oil and gas companies, and other enterprise customers in the region’s growing market. The launch of QSAT’s network follows the recent deregulation of the telecommunications industry in Qatar. A deregulated market has cleared the way for satellite service providers such as QSAT to meet the growing demand for additional bandwidth for a variety of government and enterprise communications needs in the region. QSAT can now offer advanced services to remote sites, filling the communications gap in Qatar’s rapidly growing enterprise market, where terrestrial service is unable to reach. An Evolution network will deliver nexgen performance for corporate Virtual Private Networks (VPN’s) and other advanced applications that QSAT’s customers rely on for business. Based on the DVB-S2 standard with Adaptive Coding and Modulation (ACM), the iDirect network will enable QSAT to efficiently allocate bandwidth capacity from the Intelsat 10 satellite to its growing base of EMEA enterprise customers. Advanced features of the iDirect platform such as ACM allow QSAT to provide higher Quality of Service to its customers by automatically adjusting to overcome typical conditions such as rain fade that often cause service degradation in Africa and other tropical regions.
