Adverse weather conditions are the cause of a one-day delay for the launch of INSAT-4CR by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The homegrown Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV) will now lift off on September 2nd, as severe thunderstorms over the last few days during the nighttime hours delayed pre-launch work by about 14 hours.
The spacecraft has been integrated with the GSLV and the unit has already been moved to the Sriharikota spaceport’s launch pad. According to the Indian Secretary in the Department of Space, G Madhavan Nair, the final checkout phase is underway and all that remains is the launch rehearsal and final mission clearance.
In regards to the launch of the Israeli Polaris satellite via India’s Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle, no launch date has yet been decided upon. Apparently there are some technical issues that require clarification—New Delhi, India—August 31, 2007
