MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA: August 20, 2007—Satnews Daily—Now built into all of the Satellite Telecommunication Networks (STN) incoming and outgoing feeds is Miranda Technologies’ Kaleido-X multi-image display processor with a built-in router. The Kaleido-X is used in the master control room (MCR) and is configured to monitor 32 income feeds and 24 outgoing feeds. There are 124 channels of audio and two plasma displays are used. The router option is being used to control a sports channel, which previously had its own, stand-alone router. This has saved space and costs. The router offers up to 48 unprocessed, baseband outputs from the HD/SDI video inputs.
STN offers playout and transmission services to European broadcasts from their facilities in Ljubljan, Slovenia, and they currently operate seven satellite uplinks. By 2008, a total of 10 uplinks will be fully operational and programming will be transmitted to more than 20 television companies and 30 radio stations around the world. This new unit was selected due to STN’s experience and satisfaction with a Miranda Kaleido-K2 multi-image processor.
