ISRO Chairman V. Narayanan has said the Indian government has approved the complex Chandrayaan-4 mission that is designed as a lunar sample-return mission for launch in 2028.
The organization also plans for seven more launches during the current financial year. Additionally, the first human spaceflight is on track for a 2027 launch.
Multiple SATCOM missions are in the works, as well, as is the first PSLV built entirely by Indian industry. Plus, the recent joint mission with JAXA for a lunar exploration mission, LUPEX, is also working its way toward launch. Mix in work on an Indian space station, and the work is certainly cut out for the organization.
Regulatory moves by the government have also opened the country’s space industry by enabling the development of launch vehicles, satellites and launch services by private industries.
