Stratos Global Corporation [TSX: SGB] has begun deployment of its AmosConnect Crew service on 34 vessels managed by Reederei Blue Star GmbH [Blue Star]. Blue Star is a subsidiary of Maersk, the world’s largest shipping company. The service enables crew members at sea to stay in contact with home at low-cost rates via phone, SMS, and email. AmosConnect Crew also allows Blue Star to separate crew communications from the vessel’s business communications.
The new AmosConnect Crew deployment includes the roll out of pre-paid Stratos ChatCards and ChatCard Online over the entire fleet of 34 ships. Blue Star crew members only need one prepaid ChatCard to access all three modes of communication. This service provides each crew member with a fixed, private email address that follows the crew member when moving from one vessel to another. Stratos enables crew members to reload their ChatCard using their credit card. Only Stratos offers one crew communication service in which the costs for voice, SMS and email are charged via a single prepaid card. Plus, the company is also offering this service via ChatCard Online, a tool that enables ship managers to order new cards and reload existing cards online—Bethesda, Maryland
