WASHINGTON, D.C.: August 17, 2008—Satnews Daily—There is nothing quite akin to receiving official regulatory decisions via a government agency letter. Coated with rules, regulations and a tone that could cause whales to shudder, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has dismissed Telenor Satellite’s application for modification of the existing blanket authority for 1000 Inmarsat B mobile earth terminals (METs) to communicate with the Inmarsat-3F4 satellite.
The FCC states in their official letter to Telenor Satellite that their earth station application is “not substantially complete, contains internal inconsistencies, or does not substantially comply with the Commissions’ rules.” The letter adds that, due to several omissions and discrepancies, the application is “unacceptable and subject to dismissal.” Then follows a list of discrepancies, judged as such by the FCC. Telenor may re-file their application as an amendment to their remaining pending modification application for the earth station located in Santa Paula, California.
