Globecomm Systems Inc. (NASDAQ: GCOM) has been awarded a contract to build and install a new Ku band earth station valued at $3.1 million from an existing telecommunications customer in Asia (the customer). Globecomm will provide the customer with a Ku-band earth station to be used as a diversity site for a network currently being installed by the Company, providing the customer with the ability to improve service availability and overcome outages due to severe rainstorms. The Company’s proprietary software will detect severe rain fade conditions and direct the traffic from the main facility to the diversity facility during high rain periods. On June 8, 2007, the Company had announced a $16.1 million contract award from the customer to design and install a nexgen media-processing center, which was a follow on from a previously announced $3.5 million contract, bringing the total value of this project to $19.6 million at that time. This contract award now brings the total value of the network build-out for the customer to $22.7 million.
