COM DEV International Ltd. [TSX: CDV] has announced that James C. Adamson has been appointed to its Board of Directors, as well as the Board’s Human Resources and Compensation Committee.
Mr. Adamson is a former NASA astronaut and U.S. Army Colonel (Ret.) who has held a number of senior corporate roles. Since 2001 he has been a consultant with his own company, Monarch Precision, LLC, which specializes in strategic business development and risk management for technology companies contracting with the U.S. Government.
Prior to becoming a consultant, Mr. Adamson was President and CEO of Honeywell Technology Solutions Inc., a $500 million subsidiary of Honeywell specializing in ground network and space asset management for civil and military government customers. From 1995 to 1999 he was Chief Operating Officer of United Space Alliance, a $1.5 billion joint venture partnership between Lockheed Martin and Boeing mandated to consolidate all of NASA’s Space Shuttle and Space Station Operations Production and Maintenance under a single prime contractor for eventual privatization and commercialization. Previously, he served as President and CEO of Lockheed Engineering and Sciences Company, a $350 million engineering products and services company.
During a 23-year career in the U.S. Army, Mr. Adamson held commands in Europe, Vietnam and the United States, including commanding the Army Space Flight Detachment at Johnson Space Center. At NASA, from 1981 to 1992, Mr. Adamson held leadership positions in management, operations and R&D. He flew on two Space Shuttle missions, logging over 334 hours in space—Cambridge, Ontario
