On Sept. 28, 2026, mobile satellite communications provider Ovzon secured a 12-month contract valued at 90 MSEK ($9.1 million) from a new U.S. government customer.
The agreement covers the provisioning of Ovzon’s end-to-end SATCOM platform, combining service allocations on the proprietary Ovzon 3 geostationary satellite, supplemental third-party capacity, and mobile satellite terminal hardware.
Ovzon 3 History and U.S. Government Procurement Context
The award expands Ovzon’s presence within U.S. federal agencies and defense sectors, building on existing SATCOM deployments across allied defense forces and NATO government customers.
The contract marks a significant milestone for the operator’s flagship spacecraft, Ovzon 3, which originally entered commercial service on July 5, 2024, following its launch into geostationary orbit. Designed as a dedicated defense-grade geostationary platform, Ovzon 3 incorporates an advanced On-Board Processor (OBP) that enables direct beam steering, anti-jamming protection, and single-hop terminal-to-terminal mesh connectivity without routing signals through ground teleports.
By combining proprietary space segment assets with third-party satellite capacity under its managed Orion Service framework, Ovzon delivers multi-band coverage for expeditionary military units operating in remote or contested environments. The architecture allows federal defense agencies to replace fragmented satellite bandwidth leases with unified, managed connectivity contracts.
Financial Parameters and Platform Architecture
The total contract value reaches 90 MSEK ($9.1 million), divided across service capacity and ground terminal hardware deliverables:
The communications services segment accounts for 84 MSEK ($8.5 million), providing access to Ovzon 3, partner satellite capacity, and the Orion Service platform. The remaining 6 MSEK ($0.6 million) covers the delivery of compact, high-throughput mobile satellite terminals engineered for rapid field setup and low power consumption.
Under financial accounting protocols, Ovzon will initially record 34 MSEK ($3.4 million) as order intake during the third quarter of 2026. The remaining 56 MSEK ($5.7 million) will be recognized in subsequent quarters once formal administrative processing of the full federal funding allocation is finalized.
The platform architecture integrates satellite capacity, ground network gateways, ruggedized mobile terminals, and round-the-clock operational support into a secure, defense-grade managed service. The system provides high-bandwidth downlinks to ultra-small terminals, supporting real-time video streaming, tactical command data transport, and situational awareness feeds for defense, national security, and public safety missions.

Operational service under the 12-month agreement is scheduled to commence immediately, with Ovzon delivering mobile satellite terminals and activating high-throughput capacity links across designated mission theaters. The company will complete terminal deliveries and network integration through the fourth quarter of 2026 while finalizing the administrative processing for the remaining $5.7 million contract balance.
