South Africa’s Dragonfly Aerospace is pleased to announce their latest chapter, an Award Program for young innovative projects working on Earth observation. Dragonfly’s South African space engineering and space missions, are their latest endeavors. The company’s history dates to the 1980s with their first Earth Observation satellite mission to the latest satellite launch in 2018 and imager launch in 2020. Dragonfly’s team members have worked on every microsatellite space mission since South Africa entered the space race.
One of the key elements in establishing an Earth observation system is the imaging payload. Dragonfly is prepared to offer one of its compact high resolution Caiman imagers for the upcoming satellite mission which aims to monitor and protect our shared global natural resources.
Conditions of the competition
The Dragonfly Aerospace Award Program will be held from June 1, 2021 to October 31, 2021.
The contest is open to commercial start-ups as well as non-profit, non-commercial organizations, including university programs. The winning team needs to have an existing funded mission that will launch before December 31, 2022.

If sufficient information is provided the applicant will receive an email confirming their eligibility to participate in the Award Program.
