The Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) has officially submitted its priority issues for consideration at the 2009 U.S.-China Joint Commission on Commerce and Trade (JCCT).
Led by the Office of the United States Trade Representative (USTR) and the Department of Commerce, the JCCT is an annual dialogue between the U.S. and Chinese government that provides a forum to resolve trade concerns and promote bilateral commercial opportunities. Telecommunications industry concerns with China highlighted in this year’s submission include:

- transparency and redundancy issues in China’s type approval process
- restrictive information security practices
- protectionist policies associated with indigenous innovation initiatives
- foreign equipment certification processes
