During a visit to Turkey this week, the Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Barak is going to see what he can accomplish in selling the idea of an Israeli satellite and other military goodies to that country. One of Israel’s most important regional allies, the chat is that Israel Aerospace Industries‘ (IAI) Ofek sat will be offered to Turkey for around $300 million. Turkish sources have confirmed there is definite interest in the satellite deal as well as other ways the two countries could share intelligence data. This would not be the first such deal between the two countries. Ten or so Heron surveillance drones have been purchased by Turkey from IAI for about $200 million and there is initial interest in an anti-missile system being built by Israel called the Arrow II.
