
Gilat Satellite Networks Ltd. (NASDAQ, TASE: GILT) has revealed that Sprint has expanded their contract with the company to include a three-year managed service project — this multi-million dollar project includes services and technology to enable Sprint to expand its network coverage.

Gilat will provide services and the equipment to operate Sprint’s 3G and LTE networks in selected areas for cellular backhaul and other applications. Gilat will deliver services to remote cell sites over a three-year period with an optional extension, to support Sprint’s network coverage and expansion plans.
Michal Aharonov, VP Commercial at Gila, noted that the expanded relationship with Sprint includes managed services, further proving that satellite based LTE cellular backhauling is becoming mainstream, with tier-1 MNOs for plentiful, quality and affordable broadband. This project will deliver a highly reliable service and will meet the rigorous service level agreements (SLAs), which will enable Sprint to roll out its LTE network rapidly throughout the US.
