TRaC Global…Is Shaking Over New Testing Services

April 2, 2014

[SatNews] …expanding its testing service offering for the aerospace, defense and rail industries with the unveiling of a new…

Leading test and certification group, TRaC Global, has announced it is expanding its testing service offering for the aerospace, defense and rail industries with the unveiling of a new LDS V984 Electromagnetic Shaker at its Warwick testing facility.

TRaC Global is one of only two independent testing houses in the UK to offer this large vibration system for shock and vibration testing to replicate the more harsh environmental conditions that products might encounter in their respective fields of operation.

Supplied by Brüel & Kjær, the LDS V984 is exceptional for testing larger products that are exposed to more severe vibration levels typically seen in aerospace, defence and rail vibration specifications. The LDS V984 has 160kN thrust and is capable of testing up to 2000kg payload.

Specialist features, such as a guided slip table and guided head expander, make it ideally suited for the testing of products with a large footprint, high centres of gravity, off-set loads or combination of both. For example: aircraft actuation systems, mobile power generation systems, aircraft landing gear, in-flight refuelling equipment, aircraft motor drive systems, satellite sub-systems and motorway signage.

Mark Heaven, CEO at TRaC Global explains: “This new investment means the UK aerospace, defence and rail industries will be able to experience greater availability, improved test capability and lead times for testing larger pieces of equipment and vital parts.

“Our state-of-the-art UKAS accredited test facilities, located in Wimborne and Warwick, now house three of the four LDS V984 Shakers currently available at independent test houses within the UK. TRaC has made this investment to support increasing demand from our blue chip aerospace clients who rely on us to ensure equipment meets the numerous national and international quality and safety standards for both commercial and military use.

“With over 15 years’ experience of using the LDS V984 vibration system, TRaC is extremely proud of its reputation for leading industry best practice in supplying the highest quality testing services, enabled by our cutting-edge technology and the specialist knowledge and expertise of our team of highly skilled engineers.”

TRaC Global is a leading testing and certification group which helps companies achieve product compliance. With its UKAS accredited aerospace and defense test centers of excellence at Warwick, Wimborne and Malvern, TRaC Global offers Environmental and EMC testing and qualification as well as product assessment and validation through Finite Element Analysis.

TRaC covers RTCA DO160, MIL-STD-810 and MIL-STD-461, DEF STAN 00-35 and DE F-STD59-411 as well as various prime contractor requirements including Airbus-specific test standards. In addition to test services, TRaC provide ESQ™ (Early Stage Qualification) consultancy services providing technical expertise, from the qualification planning process through to testing and reporting, to de-risk failure and help qualify equipment more cost-effectively and time-efficiently.
