Intuitive Machines Secures $175M Strategic Investment to Scale Space Infrastructure

February 26, 2026

On Wednesday, February 25, 2026, Intuitive Machines, Inc. (Nasdaq: LUNR) announced the entry into a definitive securities purchase agreement for a $175 million strategic equity investment led by global institutional investors.

The Houston-based company plans to utilize the capital to accelerate the expansion of its satellite communications and in-space data processing networks, specifically targeting geostationary orbit (GEO), lunar, and Martian domains.

Integration of Multi-Domain Capabilities

The investment follows the January completion of Intuitive Machines’ $800 million acquisition of Lanteris Space Systems, formerly Maxar Space Systems. The company is now focused on integrating the Lanteris 1300 series satellite platform to capture market share in high-power on-orbit data processing and edge computing. This strategic pivot aims to transition the firm from a lunar landing specialist into a vertically integrated space prime, capable of managing complex infrastructure projects across all orbits.

This capital infusion also bolsters the company’s ability to execute on its $4.82 billion Near Space Network Services (NSNS) contract awarded by NASA in late 2024. The NSNS program serves as the foundation for the company’s vision of a “solar system internet,” providing critical data relay and navigation services for the Artemis campaign and commercial lunar ventures.

Leveraging Flight-Proven Heritage

The company’s growth strategy is underpinned by technical lessons from its previous lunar missions. Following the IM-1 mission success in early 2024—the first commercial soft landing on the Moon—and the IM-2 landing in March 2025, Intuitive Machines is scaling its orbital transfer vehicle (OTV) and data transmission architecture. The new funding is expected to enhance the competitive positioning of its “Golden Dome” initiative, a multi-layered defense and communications shield designed for national security and civil space operations.

Timeline for Capital Deployment

The transaction is expected to close on Friday, February 27, 2026, subject to customary closing conditions. Moving forward, Intuitive Machines expects near-term updates on several pending awards, including NASA’s Lunar Terrain Vehicle (LTV) Services and follow-on contracts for the Space Development Agency’s Proliferated Warfighter Space Architecture (PWSA). The company is scheduled to report its full-year 2025 financial results and provide a post-acquisition operational update on March 19, 2026.
