Kymeta supporting Help.NGO with hurricane emergency comms

October 31, 2024

Connectivity is the lifeline of our modern world, and its importance becomes even more pronounced in the wake of natural disasters.

The recent devastation caused by Hurricane Helene and Hurricane Milton, affecting multiple regions including Roan Mountain and Western North Carolina, has brought this reality into sharp focus, with the restoration of communication in affected areas emerging as a top priority in recovery efforts.

At Kymeta, we’ve taken decisive action. In partnership with Intelsat, we’ve deployed Hawk™ u8 terminals to support Help.NGO‘s emergency response operations. Operating from an Emergency Operations Center in Augusta, Georgia, Help.NGO has established crucial emergency broadband connectivity for response personnel, with plans to expand support to Western North Carolina as additional terminals arrive.

In parallel, through Operation Connect Carolina, Kymeta’s Hawk™ u8 has been deployed in Roan Mountain, where the firm’s connectivity solutions are serving hundreds of residents in the hurricane-impacted valley.

Kymeta’s thoughts are with everyone impacted by these devastating events. This crisis underscores how vital connectivity is for communities in need. The company is committed to supporting rebuilding efforts, showcasing how satellite communications can be a powerful force for good in challenging times.
