The United States and India have a long and successful tradition of space cooperation\, and the future opportunities for expanded collaboration are only bounded by our imagination – from the early 1963 beginnings when India first launched a U.S.-manufactured sounding rocket from Thumba to study the atmosphere to the future of the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) Earth observation mission. \nUSIBC works with our members and the U.S. government space community to promote the Indian relationship\, and this event supports greater interaction between the two government. India has recently embarked on reforms and liberalization of its commercial space sector\, and USIBC seeks to support this opening and create opportunities for U.S. industry and our members. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWednesday\, March 17\, 2021\n8:30am ET / 6:00pm IST\n\nDial-in details to be confirmed upon registration

SUMMARY:Lost Without Translation: Identifying Gaps in U.S. Perceptions of the Chinese Commercial Space Sector
DESCRIPTION:Secure World Foundation and Caelus Foundation will be releasing a paper entitled “Lost Without Translation: Identifying Gaps in U.S. Perceptions of the Chinese Commercial Space Sector.” This whitepaper explores current perspectives that U.S. commercial space stakeholders have on the emerging Chinese commercial space sector and identifies significant questions and gaps in information that these stakeholders have. Via interviews with private sector professionals across the space industry in the U.S.\, this study provides a glimpse into current perceptions\, concerns\, and questions about the potential impacts of China’s space activities on their business and investment realities. Common interviewee perspectives are compared to an investigation of Chinese commercial space dynamics in order to identify areas of alignment or misalignment. These findings illuminate significant areas where further research would improve understanding and better enable strategic decision-makers. \nDuring this webinar the report’s authors will discuss the key findings of the paper; and a panel of expert guests will present their reactions and impressions of the findings.

SUMMARY:Norsat December Webinar on 5G LNBs
DESCRIPTION:Presenter: Norsat’s Electrical Engineer Jaber Moghaddasi \nDate: December 8th\, 2020 8am-9am PST \nThe new wireless era is right at the corner\, and the 5th generation (5G) wireless systems are much publicized. Although 5G technology brings a host of benefits for mobile communication\, it degrades the service level for other technologies such as satellite communication by limiting the available bandwidth for satellite communication or interfering with satellite signals at the adjacent frequency bands. Therefore\, the need for developing blocker tolerant LNBs have moved to the forefront of the satellite communications industry\, and multiple 5G interference mitigation solutions have recently been introduced. \nIn this webinar\, Norsat’s RF Design Engineer\, Dr. Jaber Moghaddasi\, will discuss the impact of blockers from 5G base stations on LNBs. He’ll also review the multiple techniques for developing blocker tolerant receivers and present the various solutions that Norsat Inc. has put forward to mitigate the degradation caused by such interferences. You’ll also witness firsthand the performance of Norsat’s switchable 5G LNB\, i.e.\, 3200-sBPF-5\, through a live demonstration. \nPlease send your questions\, comments and feedback to marcom@norsat.com \nRegistration link: https://www.norsat.com/norsat-december-webinar-on-5g-lnbs/

SUMMARY:WTA Webinar: The Teleport Opportunity for LEO
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, November 10 at 10:00 am EST \nEmerging LEO satellite operators are on the hunt for gateway earth stations in every region capable of supporting their massive bandwidth needs.  The first mover was OneWeb\, which hit a wall with its Chapter 11 filing only to re-emerge with UK government backing and push ahead with its initial plan for a 650-satellite network while winning approval for 2\,000.  Gateways are equally critical to the success of SpaceX\, which has orbited more than 700 satellites and has permission to boost that number to 12\,000\, as well as Amazon Kuiper with its approved plan for more than 3\,200 spacecraft and Telesat with its 298 satellites.  MEO is represented by SES Networks\, which will boost its 20-satellite network to 32 with the introduction of mPower beginning in 2021. A number of teleport operators have signed agreements and deployed LEO and MEO gateways\, and the opportunity for those with the right capabilities and attributes appears large. In this webinar\, teleport and LEO satellite operators will discuss the core requirements for a good gateway site.  Topics include unexpected challenges that arise at times from spectrum regulation\, the rising pressure for 5G deployment\, geography and infrastructure.  Attendees will gain a deeper understanding of the decision factors that guide LEO operators\, their potential to gain gateway business and the likely value of such business. Speakers include: \n\nMartin Coughlan\, Business Development Director\, Telstra\nJay Bloom\, Senior Manager\, Project Kuiper Ground Systems\, Amazon Kuiper\nRobert Bell\, Executive Director\, WTA (moderator)\n\nLearn more and register\n

SUMMARY:Tow Trucks and Tankers On Orbit Servicing and the NewSpace Economy
DESCRIPTION:Please join SpaceFund\, and our special guests Daniel Faber and Jonathan Goff\, for a free webinar at 3pm Eastern on Wednesday\, September 23.Here on Earth\, when you run out of gas\, you simply get more. If your car breaks down\, you call a tow truck or mechanic. In space\, if either of those things happens to your satellite\, you have to throw it away – even if you spent a Billion dollars to get it out there! Thankfully\, this ridiculous state of affairs is finally starting to change as a new generation of service providers and suppliers begin to fly. These and other frontier-oriented companies are laying the groundwork for a new industrial economy in space. We invite you to join us as we talk to some of the trailblazers in the field. The presentations will be followed by an interactive Q & A session.
