SUMMARY:The Virtual Teleport? The Growth of Ground-Segment-as-a-Service
DESCRIPTION:The smallsat revolution and major advances in network management technology have had an unintended consequence: the birth of teleport operating companies that own little infrastructure of their own. Through multiple partnerships\, fiber links and advanced network management platforms\, they aggregate demand from customers and leverage the capital investments of teleport and satellite operators to meet it. In practice\, they can be both competitors for customer relationships and strategic partners bringing new revenue to facilities-based operators. For The Virtual Teleport\, WTA talks with ground-segment-as-a-service providers\, facilities-based teleport operators and satellite operators about this new business model\, its benefits and downsides\, and how it may change the rules of the game for traditional teleport operators. Speakers include: Gregory Quiggle\, Vice President\, Product Management\, Kratos; Sean McDaniel\, CEO\, ATLAS Space Operations; Will Mudge\, Vice President\, Engineering Operations\, Speedcast; and Katherine Monson\, CEO\, KSAT USA. This webcast is sponsored by Kratos. Click here to learn more and register.

The United States and India have a long and successful tradition of space cooperation\, and the future opportunities for expanded collaboration are only bounded by our imagination – from the early 1963 beginnings when India first launched a U.S.-manufactured sounding rocket from Thumba to study the atmosphere to the future of the NASA-ISRO Synthetic Aperture Radar (NISAR) Earth observation mission. \nUSIBC works with our members and the U.S. government space community to promote the Indian relationship\, and this event supports greater interaction between the two government. India has recently embarked on reforms and liberalization of its commercial space sector\, and USIBC seeks to support this opening and create opportunities for U.S. industry and our members. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWednesday\, March 17\, 2021\n8:30am ET / 6:00pm IST\n\nDial-in details to be confirmed upon registration

SUMMARY:Satellogic Now You See: High Frequency Collections\, Rapid Revisits and Unique Datasets
DESCRIPTION:In 2020\, European Space Imaging became the founding member of the Satellogic Global Consortium\, an initiative to streamline access to imagery for decision makers all over the world. Through this partnership\, European Space Imaging has expanded their satellite portfolio to include multispectral imagery with a resolution 0.7 – 1m as well as hyperspectral imagery from the recently launched Aleph-1 Constellation. The inclusion of this data now gives the company access to 25 orbiting satellites ranging from 0.3 – 1 m with a combined daily revisit of close to 10 times a day. \nThe panel will be moderated by Aravind Ravichandran\, Founder of TerraWatch Space\, and will consist of Thomas VanMatre\, Vice-President of Global Business Development at Satellogic and Pascal Schichor\, Sales Director at European Space Imaging. During the session we will discuss the capacities of the NuSat satellites including their global coverage and rapid revisits\, how the imagery can complement 30 cm data\, as well as the future planned satellite launches with SpaceX by Satellogic. We will explore the future of Earth Observation through the power of hyperspectral imagery\, what it is\, the benefits of this data and how you can access it. We will also demonstrate the unique benefits of the European Space Imaging / Satellogic partnership for the European market.

SUMMARY:The forces driving and shaping the entrepreneurial space domain
DESCRIPTION:Please join us on Thursday\, March 18\, 2021\, 12 noon eastern\, for an exciting event with two pathfinder leaders in commercial space industry – Dylan Taylor\, CEO and Chairman\, Voyager Space Holdings\, Jeff Manber\, CEO\, Nanoracks. \nAt the end of 2020\, Voyager Space Holdings\, a company that has acquired several space ventures\, announced it was taking a majority stake in XO Markets\, the parent company of Nanoracks – the pioneering commercial space station company. Nanoracks has been involved in more than 1\,000 ISS projects. \nNanoracks\, founded in 2009\, started by flying experiments to the International Space Station. It expanded to satellite deployment\, arranging to fly cubesats and other small satellites to the ISS to be deployed from a Japanese airlock there. According to Space News\, “Demand for those satellite deployment services led Nanoracks to pursue development of Bishop\, a commercial airlock that can be used for releasing satellites and hosting experiments. Bishop was flown to the station on a SpaceX commercial cargo mission [in December]\, and attached to the station by the Canadarm2 robotic arm.” \nAccording to TechCrunch\, “Voyager Space Holdings continues its strategic acquisition of new space companies\, building out a portfolio that can offer clients significantly more ‘full-service’ solutions than any of these individual companies taken together. Commercial details of these arrangements aren’t shared\, but they increasingly represent one path to exit for smaller companies addressing elements of the larger commercial space sector in fairly specialized ways.” \nFor more details on Voyager Space Holdings and Nanoracks\, please see:\nhttps://voyagerspaceholdings.com/\nhttps://nanoracks.com/ \n

SUMMARY:Striking a balance between commercial-off-the-shelf and custom-made space grade components
DESCRIPTION:Military and civil missions are expected to use more commercial hardware in the near future. As the space industry in general is becoming more commercialized\, testing and verification processes of spacecraft components continue to be reduced and streamlined to perform safely and cost-effectively. The integration of commercial-off-the-shelf components (COTS) has put pressure on custom-made components and parts that traditionally are more expensive and take longer to produce. \nIn this session\, integrators and component manufacturers will come together to discuss the following topics\, questions and challenges in relation to future component development:\n• What are advantages and disadvantages of pushing more toward COTS solutions as opposed to custom-designed capabilities\, especially for civil and national security space acquisition?\n• For which services should U.S. government lean more heavily on commercial solutions and for which should they lean more heavily on traditional approaches to acquisition?\n• What are the big challenges of working with U.S. civil and defense space agencies for space acquisition? \nModerator:\n· Robert (Sam) Wilson – Space and Nuclear Policy Analyst\, Center for Space Policy & Strategy\, The Aerospace Corporation \nSpeakers:\n· Chris Winslett – Program Director\, SDA Transport Layer\, Lockheed Martin\n· Jack Mawson – US Sales Director\, Sensonor

SUMMARY:The Future of Video Streaming
DESCRIPTION:Join us at the OTT Virtual Summit which will be held from 29 March – 1 April.  The goal is to assess both the current reality as well as the future prospects of the video streaming industry.  Has the pandemic accelerated development or hindered business opportunities?  To what degree is the industry going direct to consumer or is partnering with telcos more important to get critical mass?  And what do the business deals look like in that supply chain?  These and so many more questions will be covered as we look forward to another exciting but most definitely challenging year of streaming ahead. \nClick here to view the preliminary programme. \nThe OTT Virtual Summit 2021 is FREE FOR ALL AVIA MEMBERS.
