SUMMARY:Aerospace Cybersecurity Solutions: Lock it Down Before You Send It Up!
DESCRIPTION:With the increasing adoption of more complex electronic systems\, larger code bases\, and network connectivity\, the threat surface for Aerospace applications is growing significantly.  Cybersecurity has become paramount to managing operational and safety risks of avionics systems overall and even for devices at the edge such as data acquisition and control hardware. DO-326a calls for the assessment or risk in avionics systems.  When the operational and safety aspects of cyber-physical hardware at the edge are considered in a risk assessment\, naturally a Zero-Trust set of controls emerge.  Zero-Trust at the edge is good approach to managing cyber-risk and to help ensure the safety and efficiency of flight operations.

SUMMARY:The economics of building and maintaining a large satellite constellation
DESCRIPTION:The space domain has seen an unprecedented surge in satellite deployments over the past decade. With over 7\,000 satellites in orbit industry leaders are asking\, what are the economics of satellite constellations? As the number of spacecraft grows so to will the need to understand the business model and value proposition of satellite constellation providers.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nThis week NSG will be joining other industry leaders to discuss the challenges and opportunities created by large satellite constellations. Join us virtually for the Silicon Valley Space Startups meetup on Thursday November 16th at 7pm Eastern. Here industry leaders answer questions about why we need and how to manage mega sat constellations\, and how not to pollute the orbit.\n\nThis is a free event!\n\nLarge constellations rely on smallsat technology which has drastically shifted the economics of space-based infrastructure. Today over 70% of smallsat deployments are tied to those larger constellation platforms. While this indicates the commercial viability of this technology\, it is important to recognize the unique challenges facing constellation operators and those wanting to invest in this sector of the NewSpace Economy.

SUMMARY:OTT Summit 2023
DESCRIPTION:As more and more streaming platforms launch in Asia\, some of the largest names in the industry have finally seen their first subscriber drop-off in a decade. Can this be simply attributed to the increased competition\, or are these “declines” symptomatic of an over-saturated market that is likely to continue seeing more consumer churn? \nIn Asia\, and particularly Southeast Asia\, the video streaming sector is a long way from reaching maturity. According to a recent 2022 report by Media Partners Asia\, the SEA region saw 2.5 million net new subscribers\, taking total subscriptions to 43.5 million. Does this mean that streaming services still have lots of potential to grow in this region? Or is growth starting to slow down as more platforms enter the fray? And the bigger question remains: How much growth and profit can be generated from Asia alone? \nJoin us on 5 December 2023 at the OTT Summit in Singapore as we speak to some of the industry’s top leaders for their insights into these questions and more\, as they gear up for greater growth and expansion for their businesses in 2023 and beyond.

SUMMARY:OTT Summit — Women First
DESCRIPTION:The Asia Video Industry Association strongly believes in the need to give opportunities to all. We are a meritocratic industry and believe hard work and talent should be rewarded wherever it is found. Diversity\, equity and inclusion are not just labels\, they are values which\, when embraced\, can make companies stronger. \n  \nOne of the most visible and fundamental forms of representation is that of gender. The issue of gender representation and increasing female empowerment in the video industry has been high on our agenda since the very inception of the Asia Video Industry Association. Our predecessor organization\, Casbaa\, was often not perceived to be inclusive. The change in name was designed not only to reflect the shifting nature of our industry\, but also to signify a new\, more inclusive approach. I believe we are delivering on that promise.

SUMMARY:The New York Space Business Roundtable
DESCRIPTION:This month’s Roundtable will feature: \n\nAdam Maher\, CEO\, Ursa Space and 2011 SSPI Promise Award Recipient\nAsad Malik\, CEO\, iRocket and 2023 20 Under 35 Honoree\nPatrick Chase & Evan Learner\, Co-Founders\, Empire Space\n\n \nRRE Ventures’ 2017 investment in Ursa Space\, an Ithaca\, a New York-based analytics as a service company\, seeded the idea that the commercial space industry and its burgeoning need for services might trigger the recovery of once-mighty industrial regions and states. As start-ups flourished and billions of dollars in investment capital and government funding flowed into the industry a point of no-return has been reached. \nWashington State\, Florida and Colorado were poised and ready to capture the flow. SSPI then asked a question similar to one Jeff Bezos was asking\, “Could the commercial space and satellite industry revive entire sectors\, where the Earth’s industrial hubs once thrived?” Can it revive the sagging or eviscerated industry base in places like Ohio\, Indiana\, Michigan and a major source for much of the world’s private capital formation\, New York? \nWhat has happened in the “Empire State” of New York since the last time we asked this question? Has the State\, despite all of its talent\, financial prowess and history as an engine of the future failed yet again to capitalize on the continued growth of the sector? What is the New York State of mind when it comes to commercial space? Who is investing and where? Are places like Buffalo and Schenectady and Rochester feeling the bounce? Or about to? \nAlong with our usual monthly features\, we will have a Significant Digits report with SpaceNews and NY Space Alliance Founder Joe Fargnoli with his always provocative “New York Minute” reaction to the panel and the topic\, this time from Tonawanda\, New York!

SUMMARY:NYSBR 2024 Q1 Ep1: What We Want!
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, January 17   |   12:00 pm EST   |   Register Now \nOur panelists: \n\nHoyt Davidson\, Founder and Managing Partner of Near Earth LLC\nCarie Mullins\, Director of Analytics\, BryceTech\nMatt O’Connell\, Operating Partner\, DCVC\n\n \n2024 will be a pivotal year for the commercial space and satellite industry and the global community. Financing has been slowing for ventures while major consolidation is on everybody’s list of predictions. However\, services and innovations built around new constellations\, orbits and growing vertical industry needs continue at a fast pace. \nIt’s a bullish picture\, but internally may the bears have more of a say? What does the industry need to do in 2024 to ensure continued success? \nWhat have we learned since 2019? What do we WANT TO SEE HAPPEN in 2024? What can we pledge to the markets and to society? \nThis special panel of industry research\, finance and business experts kicks off the new year and takes a typical New York Business Roundtable look at the year ahead to get “real” about the money to be made and the good to be done on the path ahead.

SUMMARY:The Teleport Business Model in a Software-Driven World
DESCRIPTION:Successful teleport operators are masters of the pivot: adapting their business models to the needs of changing markets. The bare-bones uplinks of the Eighties evolved into outsourced broadcast centers and providers of cruise and maritime services\, business networks\, secure military satcom and internet trunking. Today\, explosive growth in the space business is confronting the industry with its biggest pivot yet. Competition from Starlink is already driving down pricing for core transmission services\, and three more LEO constellations will be launching service in the next three years. They will bring new demand for gateways but also challenge the economics and the core value-add of many teleport operations. Meanwhile\, as orbits multiply and satellites are increasingly software-defined\, the demands on the ground segment for capacity\, flexibility and seamless integration with terrestrial networks are overwhelming legacy analog technology. As technology vendors are rethinking their entire product lines to meet the new needs\, teleport operators are being confronted with the need to rethink and renew their core value proposition\, and to make strategic investments without investing too far ahead of market demand. \nSpeakers include: \n\nMarkus Eslitzbichler\, Director of Product Management\, Kratos\nBillie Sims\, VP\, Growth\, Comtech\nWill Mudge\, VP\, Engineering Operations\, Speedcast\nFrank Czulo\, President\, Network Innovations Advanced Networks\nMichel Dothey\, Co-Founder & Chief Commercial Officer\, neXat
