SUMMARY:Smarter Selling in a Virtual World
DESCRIPTION:COVID-19 put a stop to most travel\, entertainment\, events and in-person meetings for more than a year\, with only an uncertain end in sight. These have been the lifeblood of sales and customer service for satellite communications since the earliest days of the industry. Virtual meetings made it possible to service existing customers and find opportunities to expand accounts as the pandemic boosted demand for many kinds of communication. But developing new relationships and turning them into opportunities without in-person engagement – that proved a major challenge. The teleport and satellite sectors rose to that challenge in many different ways. In this report\, WTA explores the innovations introduced by forward-thinking companies to turn the hurdles of virtual selling into competitive advantage. The crisis of COVID forced changes and stimulated new thinking that will outlast the end of the pandemic and create efficiencies that will contribute to revenue growth for years to come. This webinar is sponsored by Integrasys. Learn more and register

SUMMARY:SAR-Satellite Remote Sensing for Renewable Power Plants
DESCRIPTION:Renewable energy sources are expected to play a key role in the global push for carbon neutrality. The operation and maintenance (O&M) of renewable power plants is expected to become increasingly important for maintaining stable electricity grids. In this context\, radar satellite-based remote sensing solutions can detect mm level land displacements in the vicinity of renewable power plants. This information can help plant operators detect possible abnormalities in the plant structure and plan corrective O&M actions.

SUMMARY:NASA Conjunction Risk Analysis Guidance
DESCRIPTION:NASA Conjunction Risk Analysis Guidance\n\nby\nJoshua Krage\nNASA Headquarters\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nAbstract\nThe rapid growth of the space industry\, and the associated increase in number of objects\, drives new challenges in sustaining a safe environment for all space operators. Managing the risk of a conjunction that might result in a collision with debris or an active object requires awareness\, preparation\, and eventually mitigating action. Conjunctions with other active objects requires coordination to avoid increasing the risk of a collision. NASA has established internal requirements for managing orbital conjunction risk\, and published the “NASA Spacecraft Conjunction Assessment and Collision Avoidance Best Practices Handbook”. This session will cover the NASA best practices and their use by other space operators that might benefit from understanding the technical basis for NASA’s conjunction assessment processes. NASA’s conjunction assessment processes have been developed over the past 30 years\, and may serve to help other space operators in developing their own mature approach.\n\nS3VI encourages the community to submit questions before the webinar to enable more directed responses. SUMMARY:WTA Webinar: Service Automation and Orchestration for Teleport Operators
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, September 21st at 10:00 am EDT \nIncorporating automation into a network can improve the performance and efficiency of time-intensive\, manual processes\, reduce staff workload\, remove the risk of human error and drive down costs for network operators. For a teleport operator\, automation is fundamentally about ensuring that potential hardware and software errors do not interrupt customer services. At the same time\, growing customer demands are driving teleports to improve their use of automation. The next step for many is orchestration\, the process of linking together a series of automations. \nIn this webinar\, WTA examines the growth of automation and orchestration of network operations in the satellite and teleport sector. We explore the extent to which satellite and teleport operators have embraced automation and orchestration\, the benefits\, the barriers and challenges it presents\, the opportunities it creates and what the future might hold. In researching this report\, we solicited and received input from more than a dozen teleport industry executives and technology experts\, who offered a wide range of viewpoints on the subject. \nSpeakers include: \n\nChristopher Boyd\, Senior Director\, Product Management\, Kratos Defense & Security Solutions\nGint Atkinson\, Vice President of Network Strategy and Digital Architecture\, SES\nWilliam Mudge\, Director of Satellite Capacity and Technology\, Speedcast\nRobert Bell\, Executive Director\, WTA (moderator)\n\nLearn more and register

SUMMARY:WTA Webinar: Five Things You Need to Know About WRC-2023
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday\, September 14th at 10:00 am EDT \nThe last World Radiocommunications Conference (WRC) in 2019 was a milestone for the satellite business. While the industry won narrow regulatory victories\, they proved no match for the desire of national regulators to find more spectrum for the deployment of 5G and expansion of 4G/LTE mobile. \nIn 2023\, the world’s RF regulators and companies will gather again to debate and approve international rules for spectrum use\, across all satellite service frequency bands (C\, Ku\, Ka). What will be discussed? What should satellite and teleport operators expect from the next regulatory round and what actions are available to them to influence the outcome in their favor? Join spectrum and regulatory experts in this WTA webinar to learn about the matters and issues under discussion\, their business impacts\, and the realistic options available. \nSpeakers include: \n\nLuis Emiliani\, Manager\, Spectrum Management & Development\, Americas\, SES\nDaniel Mah\, Vice President\, Legal & Regulatory Affairs\, EMEA\, SES\nCarlos Nalda\, Managing Principal\, LMI Advisors\nRobert Bell\, Executive Director\, WTA (moderator)\n\nLearn more and register
