GLOBECOMM will introduce attendees of Satellite 2018 to the future of satellite services at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C. — satellite is increasingly being integrated into the world's fastest growing technology sectors, including Internet of Things (IoT), a key trend that is being addressed by GLOBECOMM.
At booth 519, GLOBECOMM will discuss the firm's membership in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Partner Network, which enables GLOBECOMM to seamlessly inter-operate its global satellite and fiber network with AWS's storage, compute and cloud content delivery services. Backhaul will be the topic on March 14 at 1:45 p.m., when GLOBECOMM Chief Commercial Officer Bryan McGuirk speaks on "Surging Opportunities for Global Satellite 4G Connectivity and Backhaul." Only 75 of the world's nations have deployed 4G, and in 28 of them, deployment has reached less than 60 percent of the population. No matter what happens with 5G, the deployment of 4G will continue, with satellite backhaul playing a crucial role.
Also at 1:45 p.m. on March 14, GLOBECOMM Senior Vice President Paul Scardino will moderate a panel discussion on "New Antennas, New Opportunities." If the new generation of phased array and beam-forming antennas proves successful, it will drive major change in ground segment technology, and teleport operators need to prepare for it.
On March 13 at 1:45 p.m., GLOBECOMM Senior Vice President Michelle Scotto de Cesare will speak on "Global Advances in Industry Standards and Quality Assurance," outlining the industry's role in 5G standards, certification of teleports and personnel.
