[SatNews] DigitalGlobe has announced that the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) has awarded the company, for the second year, the Global Enhanced GEOINT Delivery (Global-EGD) contract, which started on September 1, 2014.
This renewal builds on the firm's years of service of providing the NGA and its customers with unclassified high-resolution imagery in support of operational planning, emergency response, and situational awareness. Global-EGD’s products are available in ready to use formats with access to more than 4 billion square kilometers of imagery in our archive. Global-EGD also stays up to date by including the “Daily Take,” which adds about 1.5 million square kilometers (more than double the landmass of Texas) of new Earth imagery every day, ensuring that the most current data is quickly available. These daily updates are online within twp hours after downlink and as fast as 12 minutes.
In the coming weeks, Global-EGD will also include imagery from the recently launched WorldView-3 satellite. This is the company’s sixth and most advanced commercial satellite. WorldView-3 will offer collections of super-spectral imagery at 0.31 meter resolution. Additionally, two new sensor packages have been added to the platform:
- Short Wave Infrared (SWIR) bands offer the most spectral diversity available commercially and will be the first to offer multiple bands that allow for accurate imaging through haze, fog, dust, smoke and other air-born particulates
- Cloud, Aerosol, water Vapor, Ice & Snow (CAVIS) atmospheric correction instrument, which monitors the atmosphere and corrects data for an unprecedented level of consistency
DigitalGlobe’s Global-EGD solution offers analysts, decision makers and those in the field fast access (online and offline) to the latest insights and analysis, when they need it, creating a level of situational awareness previously unavailable.
