The ETL Vulcan matrix is extremely compact, offering 128×128 routing capacity in only 16U rack space. It can be part populated in blocks of 8 inputs or 8 outputs. The Vulcan is a fully distributive matrix used widely in Satellite RX applications and incorporates ETL’s v-series 16×16 matrix cards ensuring excellent RF performance. Vulcan achieves its compact form factor by using a ‘three stage’ architecture. There are; input, output, and mid matrix RF modules – all of these are hot-swap. This provides extra resilience and the ability to expend the matrix (hot) in service, by adding input and output cards as the entire mid matrix cards are supplied in part populated matrices.
