SES S.A. (NYSE Euronext Paris and Luxembourg Stock Exchange: SESG) today confirmed that the launch of the SES-6 satellite on board an ILS Proton Breeze M rocket is slated for lift-off at 15:18 Baikonur time on June 3, 2013 (11:18 a.m. CET, 5:18 a.m. EDT).
SES-6 will be the 53rd satellite in SES’ global fleet. SES-6 is a telecommunications satellite built by Astrium for SES WORLD SKIES, a world-leading satellite operator. The satellite is equipped with 43 C-band and 48 Ku-band transponders (36 MHz equivalent). It will enable the delivery of next generation broadcast services, including HD video distribution and mobile services, from its 40.5° West location in geostationary orbit, covering North America, Latin America, Europe and the Atlantic Ocean.
The new satellite will replace NSS-806 at 319.5 degrees East and provide a significant capacity expansion. SES-6’s expanded Ku-band payload will support DTH platforms, VSAT services and government digital inclusion programs throughout Latin America. The C-band payload will add incremental capacity to support channel growth at this key cable neighborhood.

With 43 C-band and 48 Ku-band 36-MHz equivalent transponders (38 C-band and 36 Ku-band physical transponders), SES-6 will have a total of five steerable Ku-band beams, including four beams for the Americas and one beam covering the Atlantic ocean region.
Based on a Eurostar E3000 model, the 6,140-kilogram satellite will have a design life of 15 years. Prime contractor for SES-6, Astrium is responsible for the design and manufacture of the satellite, and the supply of both the payload and the platform.
A live broadcast of the launch in high definition quality will be available via ASTRA at the orbital position of 19.2 degrees East, channel 1.028, downlink frequency 11626.50 MHz, vertical polarization, Symbol rate 27.50 MSym/s, FEC 3/4, service ID 4400, service name SES-6 Launch.
