…further expanding the SES Broadband Services service offering. Newtec’s Ka-band VSAT technology will make it possible for ISPs to access the SES Broadband satellite network and services provided by additional Ka-band hubs at the company headquarters in Betzdorf.

This collaboration is a further step in the on-going development of SES Broadband service based on the company’s ASTRA Ka-band capacity. Newtec is planning to ship the first orders of their latest MDM2200 Ka- consumer terminals which will be delivered to various ISPs who distribute the SES Broadband service. Those ISPs will offer interactive satellite broadband throughout Europe, offering voice, data and television services in areas where there is insufficient terrestrial broadband connectivity.

The high-speed Newtec MDM2200 modems will facilitate a wide range of applications on a single platform. The modem can work in both Ku- and Ka-band frequencies and supports download speeds of 22Mbit/s. Adaptive return link modulations, multiple channel bandwidths and optimal availability and efficiency of DVB-S2 transmission with built-in FlexACM® technology and Clean Channel Technology® ensure the best possible service offering. Since Newtec and SES Broadband Services started their cooperation back in 2007, more than 120,000 of its Ku-band VSAT terminals have been delivered for use. These Ku-band terminals, already installed at many customer premises, can be upgraded to Ka-band.
