October 8, 2012

[SatNews] The top leaders and innovators in the commercial spaceflight industry will be in attendance at…

The 8th annual International Symposium for Personal and Commercial Spaceflight (ISPCS), the most relevant, high-value global space conference of the year, is less than two weeks away. The 2012 event will gather the top leaders and innovators in the commercial spaceflight industry for two dynamic days of dialogue and collaboration around complex topics designed to grow the industry and increase demand for commercial spaceflight. Click here to see full agenda.

Noted keynote presenters at 2012 ISPCS include:

  • Lori Garver, deputy administrator, NASA
  • BG Gwen Bingham, U.S. Army, Commanding General, White Sands Missile Range
  • Robert Dickman, executive director, American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA)
  • Roger Krone, president of Network and Space Systems, The Boeing Company
  • The Honorable Susana Martinez, Governor of the State of New Mexico

The chairs and 30+ speakers on the eight panels hail from key national and international commercial space industry organizations.

Wednesday, October 17 and Thursday, October 18, 2012.

  October 17 Agenda Highlights:

  • 9 a.m. ― Keynote address from Lori Garver

  • 11 a.m. ― Keynote address from Robert Dickman
  • 1:30 p.m. ― “Knowledge is Power” highlights the development of both sub-orbital and orbital spaceflight products and services, as a result of the consumer now being directly involved in the spaceflight transaction.
  • 2:30 p.m. ― “Cyber Defense & Security” focuses on why commercial space companies might be more vulnerable than other companies to theft of personal data, financial data and IP.
  • 4 p.m. ― “Training Astronauts for Personal and Commercial Flight: Human Factors and Readiness” examines the experiences of suborbital and orbital spaceflights, advantages of doing one experience prior to/after another and the differences in medical clearance and training processes for each.
  •
October 18 Agenda Highlights:

  • 8:40 a.m. ― Keynote address from Roger Krone
  • 9:30 a.m. ― Keynote address from Gov. Susana Martinez
  • 10:30 a.m. ― “Beyond CCDev” analyzes the future of commercial space transportation, the importance of public/private partnerships and their catalyzing effects under the Federal Acquisition Regulations.
  • 11:30 a.m. ― “Export Control Reform: What Does It Mean for the Commercial Space Industry?” addresses the Export Control Reform (ECR) Initiative and its current status. Panelists will discuss the impact of the presidential election, effects of reforms on commercial space industry and ramifications if ECR fails to achieve its goals.
  • 2 p.m. ― “Determination Meets Innovation” highlights new market demands for launch vehicles to carry small satellites to orbit. Panelists will address market demand for their vehicles, access to microgravity environments for research projects, changing relationships with consumers and government, and more.
  • 3 p.m. ― “International Space Transportation: Expanding Commercial Human Spaceflight Internationally” explores the value of expanding human spaceflight programs internationally, future of commercial space transportation and how each panelist is positioning itself to the industry.
  • 4 p.m. ― “Roundtable: The Future Belongs to All of Us” features participants who will act as anthropologists providing a final wrap up of ISPCS 2012. They will examine the questions: What did you hear? What were we doing? Where are we going? What can we do together? The panel will look for emerging themes and topics that will help us determine what to examine for next year’s conference.
