…MEASAT Global Berhad (“MEASAT”) to provide the satellite ground control and payload ground control systems for the MEASAT-3b satellite. The project builds on GMV‘s significant satellite control center experience as the leading supplier of satellite ground systems in the world. The current control centers for MEASAT-3, manufactured by Boeing Satellite Systems, and MEASAT-3a, manufactured by Orbital Sciences Corporation, will be migrated from their current real time system solutions into GMV’s hifly®. This will provide MEASAT with a consolidated control center.
MEASAT-3b is a high powered geostationary satellite designed to provide at least 48 high powered Ku-band transponders to Malaysia, India, Indonesia, and Australia. Designed to operate in tandem with the MEASAT-3 and MEASAT-3a satellites at the 91.5 degrees East slot, MEASAT-3b will provide additional satellite capacity to support the expansion of MEASAT’s core DTH customers and provide in-orbit redundancy.
GMV will develop and implement the satellite control center for MEASAT-3b, including the satellite telemetry and telecommand system based upon GMV’s product hifly®, the flight dynamics system based upon GMV’s product focusSuite, as well as the ground equipment monitoring and control. The kick off meeting occurred in January 2012 and on-site acceptance is expected by the third quarter of 2013. The satellite, which is being manufactured by Astrium SAS, is planned to be launched by the end of 2013.
