Leading satellite communications equipment manufacturer Thrane & Thrane continues its 30th birthday celebrations at this year’s NBAA with a special event to be held at its booth (C10822) on Monday 10th October at 4:00pm.
The company kicked-off its celebrations on 29th September 2011 at Thrane & Thrane’s facilities in Denmark and the NBAA event offers the ideal opportunity to welcome the aeronautical industry to share the anniversary. “We are thrilled to be celebrating 30 years of Thrane & Thrane this year and are looking forward to marking the occasion at NBAA which is a key event in the aeronautical calendar,” comments Kim Gram, Vice President of Thrane & Thrane’s Aeronautical Business Unit. “Over the last 30 years we have built a strong reputation for developing market-leading communications solutions and we have enjoyed proven success in the aeronautical sector. Formed on 29th September 1981 by brothers Lars and Per Thrane, Thrane & Thrane has consistently been at the forefront of communication technology, providing users on land (EXPLORER) at sea (SAILOR) and in the air (AVIATOR) with cutting-edge, reliable and user-friendly systems for voice and connectivity.

In addition to providing technology for end-users, as a partner to Inmarsat since the mid-eighties Thrane & Thrane has been involved in the infrastructure design and implementation of all of Inmarsat’s major services, which has supported on-going product development for the end-user. “I am particularly proud of our work within the development of Inmarsat BGAN, which started in 2001, and our subsequent performance in FleetBroadband, SwiftBroadband and BGAN terminals. With Inmarsat, we have helped to bring broadband internet out of the confines of the home and office,” adds Thygesen.
Thrane & Thrane’s approach to R&D is one of the reasons it is now viewed as a satcoms pioneer. Recent developments include being the first to integrate high speed streaming on Inmarsat BGAN X-Stream on a land vehicular terminal, the first to market with a terminal for SwiftBroadband 200 and the on-going introduction of SAILOR 900, a Ku-band antenna that is set to revolutionize the world of maritime VSAT.
