T-VIPS AS will offer at IBC 2009 (stand 1.B28) the European launch of the Company’s CP541 Seamless Monitoring Switch. The CP541 provides seamless redundancy switching and extends the T-VIPS cProcessor product family of processing and monitoring solutions for MPEG transport streams. The CP541 has been developed with particular focus on the benefits it can provide for satellite and digital terrestrial (DTT) operators.
Operators deploying the CP541 can benefit from more reliable and robust systems as the CP541 enables seamless switchover between two identical transport streams with different transmision paths. The product monitors incoming transport streams for health status, aligns the two inputs with regard to delay differences, and performs seamless switchover based upon configurable switching criteria. High reliability is ensured as the actual signals are monitored and not only the hardware equipment health status — the output is relay protected to ensure 100 percent signal availability. DTT operators with Single Frequency Networks (SFN) can use the CP541 to implement redundancy through double network paths such as satellite and fibre. By adding intelligence to monitoring and switching, T-VIPS protects both the content owner and the operator, one of many advantages that the solution provides. The CP541 is already deployed in a large DTT system in Europe, providing seamless switching for a redundancy system. It is also deployed with a major European satellite operator, ensuring seamless redundancy handling.
